Here are the new updates we implemented this week:
New Feature
Dynamic Assignments & Organizational Hierarchy
A new assignment system lets administrators build assignments through a six-step wizard (Content, Audience, Schedule, Certification, Notifications, and Review), with learner access derived automatically from the rules rather than managed enrollment by enrollment. Audiences can target user groups, specific people, profile attributes, or organizational units, and stay live as people join, move, or leave. A new People > Hierarchy builder lets administrators model their org structure as a tree of nested units, each drawing its members from a profile field, user groups, custom segments, or teams, with accountability that can be assigned or inherited to drive escalation for units falling behind. Assignments support anchored availability and due dates, recurrence and recertification cadences, inline certificate authoring, and automatic due, overdue, and new-member reminders. New assignments appear alongside existing ones in the Enrollments reports and dashboards. Reporting, assignment authoring, and the hierarchy builder are independently licensable; please reach out to your Client Success Manager if you would like to enable this feature. Sites without it continue on existing assignment behavior with no change.
Why it's awesome:
Training assignments follow the organization instead of the other way around: when someone changes role, team, or location, the right training finds them automatically, and leaders can see which part of the organization is falling behind.
New Feature
Learning Paths — Restrict Course Access to the Path
Learning Paths have a new Restrict course visibility outside of this learning path switch on the Permissions tab. When it is on, the courses inside that path are hidden from the Courses catalog and from catalog search, so learners reach them only through the path. A course stays visible if any other published Learning Path or the catalog still allows it. Learners still see courses they have taken through the path under the Assigned, In Progress, and Completed filters, and when an administrator edits a hidden course, a banner lists the Learning Paths hiding it.
Why it's awesome:
Administrators can guarantee that learners follow a prescribed sequence, instead of taking the component courses a la carte and skipping the context the path was built to provide.
New Feature
Events — Accurate Attendance from Calendar Invites and Emails
Calendar files, registration emails, new-event notices, reminders, and the Google and Yahoo "add to calendar" links now all use the same join link. Event hosts can turn on Require login to join for an event (next to the virtual meeting settings): people who open the link are directed to the meeting with their attendance tied to their Tovuti account. A forwarded link cannot check in someone who is not registered. Auto check-in now matches manual check-in, so cancelled and waitlisted registrants are never marked attended, and room capacity is respected. This feature is available upon request with your Client Success Manager or the Support team.
Why it's awesome:
Attendance is captured consistently no matter how a learner joins, so event reporting reflects who was actually there without learners having to launch from the dashboard.
Bug Fixes
- Team Lead Dashboard — Fixed an issue where the User Group field shown during a Team Lead bulk user import returned no options, even when user groups were selected in the User Team's configuration.
