Tovuti’s library of Interactive Content allows Administrators to create fun and engaging content to help users learn and retain concepts.
The Space Quiz emphasizes a fun experience for Learners. Users engage with learning content packaged in an arcade-style game.
The Space Quiz requires that users have a keyboard. It is not currently available on mobile devices.
This article outlines the following concepts:
Create a Space Quiz
Go to Content Creation > click Interactive Content > click New
Select Space Quiz.
In the Details tab, give this quiz a Title, designate a Passing Score, and set the Number of Lives. When the user’s lives are spent, they receive a game over and must try again if they have not achieved a passing score.
In the Questions and Answers tab, click Add Question.
In the pop-out menu, type the Question and various possible Answers.
Designate the Correct Answer and click Save question. Repeat this process for each question in the game.
Click Save in the game edit view.
Include the Quiz in a Lesson
Include the Space Quiz in a Lesson by adding the Interactive Content in the Content and Activities tab of a Lesson.
Results Reporting
Quiz results are recorded in the Student Activity tab of the Lesson where the Quiz is used.
Learner Experience
In the User Portal, learners play the Space Quiz by guiding the ship with the arrow keys.
They fire at oncoming enemies with the space bar.
Learners direct their ship into the bubble with the correct answer to progress in the quiz.
Use Cases
The following are possible general use cases for utilizing this feature:
Reinforcing concepts through gamified assessments
An L&D team wants to encourage knowledge retention by replacing traditional quizzes with more engaging alternatives that learners enjoy completing.
This feature is useful because:
-
The arcade-style gameplay keeps learners motivated
-
Admins can control difficulty using lives and pass thresholds
-
Repetition through retry attempts helps reinforce correct answers
Example use case
After a lesson on workplace safety, learners complete a Space Quiz where each question reinforces a different hazard response scenario. Users can replay the quiz until they achieve a passing score, helping retention.
Adding variety to course formats
A course developer wants to break up long-form content with different learning modalities that include visual interaction and active participation.
This feature is useful because:
-
The Space Quiz provides an engaging change of pace within a lesson
-
It works well alongside videos, text, and images in the lesson structure
-
It’s easy to embed and track quiz results in lesson reports
Example use case
In a leadership course, one module includes a Space Quiz to reinforce key communication styles. Learners shoot correct answers while dodging distractions, building recall through gameplay.
Encouraging replay and skill mastery
A training coordinator wants users to internalize essential facts or definitions through a format that encourages multiple attempts and mastery.
This feature is useful because:
-
Learners can retry the quiz after a game over until they succeed
-
Admins can tailor questions to emphasize repetition of key content
-
It supports independent learning at the learner’s own pace
Example use case
In a new hire training program, the Space Quiz helps learners memorize company values. With only three lives, learners must recall the exact phrasing of each value and replay until they can complete the level.
