Recurring Award Expiration Dates supports a Recurring Awards system. In conjunction with Recurring Due Dates and Auto Archive Course Progress, Admins can build a system where users are automatically required to retake courses and “re-earn” Awards. Recurring Awards are a common solution to annual compliance training and other ongoing certification programs.
This article outlines the following concepts:
Enable the Award to be Earned Multiple Times
In the Basic info tab of the Award editor, select any Award type.
Dynamic expiration date
When “Dynamic” is selected for the Expiration type, set an Expiration length. Enable Can earn multiple times.
Re-earn Award period
The Re-earn Award period field appears. This is the window of time before an award is set to expire that a learner can earn the award again.
The Re-earn Award period coincides with the Course auto-archive Time passed length configured in the Course editor.
For example, if an Award is set to expire 1 year after it is earned, an Admin may want the required courses to auto-archive 11 months after the due date. When accompanied by a 30-day Re-earn award period, the user’s course progress is archived 1 month ahead of the expiration date and they have 1 month to re-earn the award before it expires.
Fixed expiration date
With a “Fixed” expiration date, the Can earn multiple times configuration includes Re-earn award period and an additional field: Extend expiration length.
Extend expiration length
The Extend expiration length adds the set time period to the original expiration date. This is most often used for compliance training and recurring certifications that occur on a specific basis.
