Including a video as a User Portal dashboard module introduces Learners to the LMS in an engaging way. The video can set expectations and create excitement for all the learning material being presented.
This article outlines the following concepts:
User View
Edit User Portal
Go to Design > click User Portals > click a previously created User Porta
Main View Area tab
In the Main View Area tab > select Modules > click to Select the Main Area Modules
Edit Module
Select (1) Featured Video in the module selector.
These modules act as “tiles” for the Main View Area of the LMS. Edit the size (2) of each of these tiles to reflect the desired design.
Keep in mind the following when editing Module size:
-
Each “row” of modules is 12 columns wide. To create a row of modules that fills the space properly, it is recommended to set module widths to add up to 12.
- Example: 1 module with a width of 12 columns, 2 modules with respective widths of 4 and 8 columns, 3 modules each with a width of 4 columns, etc.
- To match the Module Height of another module, choose it in the Module Height Parent selector. This is especially useful when modules are in the same row.
- Setting the Module Height to 0 auto-sets the height.
Click (3) Edit Module.
Give this Feature Video a Title. Select how this video will be hosted. Options include MP4, YouTube, Screencast, Facebook, and Vimeo.
Closed captioning for Vimeo videos are enabled in Tovuti by turning on captions for the video in the Vimeo account. When enabled, Tovuti users cannot disable captions from the User Portal.
Click Save in this modal.
When finished editing all the Modules, make sure to Save the User Portal Dashboard, as well.
