It’s important to guide Users through Courses, helping them know exactly what needs to be done next. Course Assignments allow Admins to highlight recommended or assigned Courses directly to Users.
There is a sub-type of an Assignment that isn’t an actual assignment: the Course Recommendation.
Course Assignments don’t give permission or access to a course. Course Permissions are managed in the edit view of each course.
This article outlines the following concepts:
-
Create a Course Assignment
- Assignment Notifications
- Duplicate a Course Assignment
Create a Course Assignment
Go to Learning > Click Course Assignments > Click New
Choose a Title and select the Courses to be assigned.
Select if User Groups or Specific Users are assigned the respective Courses.
Select if the chosen Courses are Assigned or Recommended. When Assigned is chosen, give this Assignment a Start, End, and Due Date. Course Recommendations don’t have any associated dates.
Select if these Courses are FREE to users. Note that this only applies to “Assigned” Courses. “Recommended” Courses still require payment, as designated in the Course editor.
Assignment Notifications
Select if this Assignment triggers any configured Notifications.
When Notifications are enabled, Admins are shown a confirmation notice when the assignment is saved. Admins can choose to Send a notification so that users can see all the updates or, save the assignment without sending notifications.
Keep Send Notifications off while editing or testing a Course Assignment, and turn it on with the final Save action to ensure learners only receive one email.
Click Save.
Duplicate a Course Assignment
Duplicating Course Assignments makes it easy to create multiple assignments with similar content or structure.
