Tovuti allows Administrators to create Notifications that appear directly in the User’s dashboard. The custom button on a popup notification can direct users to a new course, updated event, or any other area within (or outside) the LMS.
This article outlines the following concepts:
Create a New Popup Notification
Go to Communications > Click Popup Notifications > Click New
Details tab
In the Details tab, give the Popup a Title, craft the message, and designate if this notification is Published.
Button Settings tab
In the Button Settings tab, click the green “+” to add a button.
Give this button a Text. Select an Icon and a Color for the button.
Set the URL to where Users are directed and the Action stored for Analytics.
Advanced Settings tab
In the Advanced Settings tab, designate to which Users (Access Level, User Group, or Specific Users) this popup appears.
Set over what time period this notification is active.
Click Save.
Use Cases
The following are possible general use cases for utilizing this feature:
Promoting new content directly from the learner dashboard
An admin wants to boost visibility for a newly launched course or training path by announcing it front and center when users log in.
This feature is useful because:
Popups appear immediately in the dashboard, ensuring high visibility
Buttons can link to any internal LMS content, like courses or events
Admins can customize targeting by Access Level or User Group
Example Use Case
A new “Inclusive Leadership” course launches for people managers. When eligible users log into Tovuti, a popup appears with a message introducing the course and a button labeled “Start now” that links directly to the course enrollment page.
Announcing policy changes or time-sensitive updates
A compliance administrator needs to notify users about an urgent change — such as a new security protocol — and direct them to additional resources.
This feature is useful because:
Popups can be time-bound and scoped to specific users
Button links can direct users to documents, lessons, or even external URLs
Ensures that urgent updates are acknowledged without relying solely on email
Example Use Case
Following a cybersecurity incident, all users in the “IT” and “Admin” groups receive a popup notification when they log in. It includes a summary of the new protocol and a button linking to a PDF outlining next steps. The popup expires after 5 days.
Driving event registrations through in-app calls to action
An L&D team wants to promote an upcoming live workshop and maximize registration by catching users’ attention as they navigate the LMS.
This feature is useful because:
Buttons in popups can link directly to event registration pages
Visual customization helps make the notification eye-catching
Popups are non-intrusive but effective for driving engagement
Example Use Case
One week before the “Q3 Productivity Lab” webinar, a popup appears on all learners’ dashboards. The message highlights the session benefits, and a button labeled “Register now” links to the event details and registration form within Tovuti.
